I can't help feeling partially responsible for all this -- the sprites and the blowback. I know that isn't rational and that there are always going to be people targeting Metas but...fucking hell is right.

I went out without my suit. I'm getting weird looks and messages for the first time. I'm realizing why it's so important to you to keep them separate. Not that I didn't believe you, I just hadn't seen it the same way before. I'm passing mine off as sprite magic, but...Definitely rethinking how visible I'll be going forward.

It isn't your fault, just like it isn't the fault of any meta, or non-meta, that they saw the horrors they did.

There's a reason I get so paranoid about this. I was KNOWN everywhere for what my genetics were, I could be searched for it. And people got hurt. My family got threatened. I'm not shocked this place is the same.

Now I live like this, hiding who I am in a whole different way. But it's not like I can move from Excelsior. This place is right for me.

No, you have to come away with me for awhile and drop everything and be as messy as you need to, and if we're lucky, maybe even heal a little.

And then we can go back to dealing with everything else when our wells aren't so dry. Together.
