Once he joins her, Aerith quickly pulls the blankets around them as she wraps her arms around his shoulders, letting him lay them both back before she shifts and presses herself against him. Humming in approval she moves around a little more, draping her upper half across his chest like a blanket, both arms wrapping around his middle as she brings her legs around him as well, seemingly trying to hug him with her whole body at the same time.
He felt so good to have this close, and tonight it went beyond the usual reasons why that was true, touching on something a little deeper. Friendship, but not quite. When Balthier tenses it pulls Aerith from her thoughts, and she lifts her head slightly, blinking as she feels him kiss her temple. Untangling one of her arms from around him, Aerith brings her hand up from beneath the blankets, leaning back enough to look at his face as her fingers touch the side of his cheek.
"Hey," she says gently, pausing long enough to kiss him. "We're here. It's safe and quiet." Aerith's hand traces his jaw before smoothing through his damp hair. "I'm going to take care of you for as long as you need."
